Utah Tech University Athletics Athletics Media Intern — August 2024 to January 2025

This chapter was a lot happening at once. I was a student, a lacrosse player, and a freelance content producer simultaneously. The internship with Utah Tech Athletics ran through all of it and the work still got done, trailblazing a newly NCAA DI brand in Southern Utah.

A full creative reel from my time at Utah Tech Athletics and volunteering at local high schools. A multitude of sports were covered: football, basketball, rugby, soccer, ice hockey, and the moments in between that made this internship and community involvement worth every early morning and late night.

Behind the Scene

The honest version of this chapter is that I was doing too many things at once and I figured out how to make all of them work.

During the fall semester I was playing lacrosse for Utah Tech, completing my degree, taking on freelance travel contracts, and showing up for an athletics media internship that required real time content production at NCAA Division I level. The schedule didn't leave a lot of room for error.

On the football side I travelled with the team across the United Athletic Conference. UNLV, University of Arkansas, Tarleton State, and more. Every road trip meant a new stadium, a new workflow, and the same expectation: get the content out the same day.

Beyond game day coverage the role covered a lot of ground. Studio media days with the men's and women's basketball programs. Media headshots for golf and tennis. Recruit photos for soccer. Each format required a different approach and a different standard of output, and building trusting relationships with new athletes.

What this internship taught me more than anything was how to operate efficiently in a high volume environment while maintaining the quality of work that a Division I athletics department expects. That lesson has shown up in every project since.
